You cant get any book better than this for a timeline of style, a slap-up introduction to give you an insight on the manufacture knowing the long history of the development of mode. It holds astonishing phtots of original pieces dated dorsum to the tudor times. Each piece of wear mentioned very unique and individual.
I imagine writing a volume like this would be nearly impossible. How tin can you distill everything virtually the past hundred years of fashion into one book? How do you pick the nearly representative pictures? I as well liked that the authors spent time explaining the difference between couture fashion and street mode from the 1970s to present.
While I was primarily working with this 1 for its showtime tertiary, it is a useful look at way in the 20th century. While Dressed for the Lensman is interested in telling a more than center-class story Vintage Manner aims for a higher socio-economic level. This one is only a iii star read for me not for choosing design houses over popular way, but for not providing more than examples of the trends beingness discussed. total review: https://faintingviolet.wordpress.com/...

This is a stunning coffee tabular array book, taking you through dissimilar eras in fashion from the xx's to the 90's. The information included is very all-encompassing, yet the writing is kept readable and interesting. If you appreciate the topic of fashion history, this is a must read.
Un libro muy conciso sobre la historia de la moda entre los años 20 y 80 del siglo XX. Destaca especialmente por su gran cantidad de fotografías, que dan buena cuenta del diseño, las texturas, los estampados...
I am nowhere near a fashionista. The nearest I become to style is watching project runway and trying to come upwardly with my own "arrive work" outfit in my closet. This book though has made me experience a footling more fashion savvy. Not overwhelming in information wonderful pictures and great tips for how to build your ain vintage closet.

...more This book validates my feelings of how far women's clothing design and fashion has fallen. Peradventure the rich can afford the existent nice fashions today, merely in the 1920s, 1940s everyone could afford and wear what was in, even if information technology was a knockoff. I miss clothes that really say, " I am a woman". Not sexy garbage, but apparel with manner in a feminine way. Wish we could get back to those days. I make clothing and costumes for a living and I loved reading about the unlike techniques that each era used to create a different look or drapery of material and admittedly loved all the photographs. I will enjoy to wait back at each era in the book if I'm every inspired past a vintage outfit and need to refer to how that staple look was achieved and created. Beautiful illustrations, cardinal silhouettes for each era, and brands/labels to expect for (and what the labels really look like). Very informative, fun, and inspiring book. Peachy for thrifters and estate auction hunters, I learned a lot.
Very comprehensive of the 20th century fashions, set out in decades with many examples of fashion from each one.Astonishing fashion photography and detailed explanations, too includes famous brands (Dior, Gucci etc.).
Overall a great book for classic/vintage fashion lovers.

A really lovely volume. Very comprehensive.
Cute photographs and useful historical information. All the major designers and trends are covered, simply the book itself is written from a British perspective.
